Physicians for Social Justice (PSJ) is a non-profit community-based development organization registered with the government of Nigeria. PSJ was founded in 2004 by young physicians who witnessed firsthand, the negative impact of disease and poverty on the rural poor in Nigeria.

Since inception, PSJ’s activities are focused mainly on supporting rural communities in Nigeria achieve the Millennium Development Goals related to health; halting the spread of HIV/AIDS, providing support to vulnerable children, promoting community health, and broader social justice.

At the organizational level, in the past 8 years PSJ has shown impressive and steady growth in all areas of organizational capacity development, earning triple ‘A’ ratings on the OCI index – planning, fundraising, board/governance development, financial management, human resources, monitoring and evaluation, and community relations. Our flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to learn and understand from the challenges we face while working under extremely difficult circumstances, has strengthened PSJ’s capacity to more meaningfully engage the communities we serve.  That is why we are very proud of our people and what we have achieved as an organization.
